Baby Teeth
Your child’s teeth- Teeth vary in size, shape and location in the jaws.  These differences enable teeth to work together to help you chew, speak and smile.  Teeth also help give the face its shape and form.  These photos show when you can anticipate eruption of primary teeth (baby teeth) as well as permanent teeth

Flouride
Regular Fluoride treatment at the dental office has show to be effective in reducing decay if done two times per year.  It is recommended by our office and the American Dental Association.

Tooth Trauma
Fractured front tooth:  Remain calm!  Call dentist immediately for emergency appointment.  If lip is cut or bitten, ice the area at 10 minute intervals for swelling.  If bleeding lip due to trauma, apply firm pressure with wash cloth until bleeding stops.  It is ok to give Tylenol/Ibuprofen as pain reliever as directed on container for dosage allowances.

“Knocked out” front tooth
Remain calm!  Call dentist immediately for emergency appointment.  Locate tooth if possible.  Limit touching the root of the tooth.  Rinse off any debris.  Timeliness is important to the success for keeping the tooth.  Keep it moist for transportation to the dentist in a wet washcloth or in a container of milk or water.  Transport the child to the dentist as soon as possible.  If any swelling, ice the area at 10 minute intervals.  Primary teeth “baby teeth” are not typically reimplanted to prevent further damage to the permanent tooth underneath it.  The dentist will stabilize the tooth to allow reattachment of the root to the bone and xray the injured areas.  Followup visits are equally important to monitor the healing of the traumatized area.
